The Alliance works at the intersection of evidence and action to strengthen health systems in low- and middle-income countries.
Our current work is guided by five strategic priorities for 2024–2028 – designed to respond to today’s global challenges while meeting country needs.
We do this by funding research, strengthening institutional capacity and supporting evidence-informed dialogue.
Our current priorities
Supporting countries by generating evidence and supporting locally driven change to achieve universal health coverage (UHC) through strengthening systems and services based on a primary health care (PHC) approach.
Supporting research to understand how digital health – including artificial intelligence – can enhance service delivery, empower users and support better decision-making, helping countries integrate digital health into national systems.
Supporting research to prevent premature death and disability from NCDs, focusing on primary prevention, commercial determinants, and fiscal measures like health taxes to advance health equity.
Integrating health into climate mitigation and adaptation strategies, helping countries identify actions, and bridging the gap between health systems and climate action.
Supporting research on governance of public health agencies and service delivery in conflict settings to build resilient systems in fragile and protracted crisis environments.
Shifting from individual training to institutional engagement, systems change and policy-maker involvement to build research ecosystems that connect evidence to policy, especially in under-represented contexts.
Our 2024–2028 strategy, Aiming for impact, provides more details on what the Alliance does, what it's objectives are and how it works.
