Priority areas

During 2024–2028, the Alliance will focus on how research and learning can drive policy and implementation in five key areas. These areas address critical health system challenges, contribute to health equity and represent areas where health policy and systems research can make a unique contribution.

While continuing its traditional focus on health systems functions like financing and service delivery, the Alliance will align digital health with primary health care and emphasize multisectoral efforts in disease prevention. The focus on climate change and emergency preparedness highlights the role of health systems in addressing modern crises. The Alliance will continue to apply systems thinking approaches and will work to identify synergies across these areas of focus.
