The new Strategic Plan was developed by members of the Alliance Board, the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee and Secretariat, with input from stakeholders worldwide. The plan details the Alliance’s ambitions for the next years, with objectives that build on an analysis of its achievements to date and of where it hopes to make a difference in regard to the needs of today’s world.

Addressing health challenges from a systems perspective, as the Alliance proposes, requires the involvement of researchers, decision-makers, communities and practitioners at all levels. The Alliance aims to provide a unique forum for the health policy and systems research community, placing new emphasis on building and facilitating partnerships as a pathway to change.

Mission

To promote the generation and use of health policy and systems research as a means to strengthen the health systems in low- and middle-income countries.

Strategic Objectives (2016-2020)

Building on the achievements of the last 15 years, the Alliance has reformulated its core objectives and is working to:

  • Provide a unique forum for the health policy and systems research community;
  • Support institutional capacity for the conduct and uptake of health policy and systems research;
  • Stimulate the generation of knowledge and innovations to nurture learning and resilience in health systems;
  • Increase the demand for and use of knowledge for strengthening health systems.
