A meeting of the Lancet Commission on Essential Medicines Policies will be held from 9-11 March in London, UK. This meeting is one of a series taking place this year that will be used to generate a report that provides evidence on current issues, anticipates the evolution of global essential medicines policies and makes evidence-based recommendations to improve policy-making processes. 19 independent experts in a variety of disciplines have been invited to develop this report, which is planned to be launched at the end of 2015. Of these experts, are two past Alliance grantees (Arash Rashidian and Vera Luiza Lucia) as well as a member of our own Secretariat, and co-editor of the Alliance Flagship Report on "Medicines in Health Systems: Advancing access, affordability, and appropriate use", Maryam Bigdeli.
