Alliance Board

The Board is the governing body of the Alliance and is composed of a selection of key stakeholders in HPSR, including a representative from WHO, funders and leaders in the field. Members are selected to ensure appropriate distribution by region, gender, occupation, and type of institution.

The Board's main functions are to:

  • review and decide upon strategic direction and focus;
  • establish sub-committees for specific purposes;
  • select the members of the STAC;
  • approve the Alliance’s workplan and budget;
  • monitor and evaluate progress of both the administration and the Alliance more broadly;
  • play a leading role in ensuring that the Alliance and its work enhances the contributions of complementary health policy and systems research initiatives, at both national and international levels;
  • and contribute to fundraising on behalf of the Alliance.

Biography

Daniela is a health policy and systems researcher focused on the intersection of politics and public health. She has specific interests in how evidence, actor relationships and incentives, and political commitment inform policies and programmes – from development through implementation.

Prior to joining the Alliance, she was a faculty member at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she conducted research and evaluations on health policy and implementation, health systems strengthening, and donor transition and sustainability. She also taught and was involved in mentorship programmes.

Daniela holds a Master’s in Public Health degree in Global Health from Emory University, and a Doctor in Public Health degree from the University of California, Berkeley. She served as Chair of the Translating Evidence to Action Thematic Working Group of Health Systems Global from 2016–2021.
